Kettlebell Double Swing

Perhatikan
- avoid · Pregnancy — The explosive hip drive and loaded flexion are not appropriate during pregnancy. Substitute with a bodyweight glute bridge or a light cable pull-through.
- caution · Shoulder impingement — The kettlebells float to chest height, which can compress the shoulder joint. If you feel pinching, reduce the range or substitute with a cable pull-through where the arms stay lower.
A bilateral kettlebell swing that demands full posterior chain and core bracing without the offset that lets one side compensate. The double swing forces symmetrical hip drive and anti-extension control, making it a true full-body hinge pattern.
Jika Anda Pemula
Master the single-arm swing first. The double swing loads both sides equally, which exposes any asymmetry in your hip hinge. Start with lighter kettlebells than you'd use for single-arm work — the bilateral demand is higher than you expect.
Melangkah Lebih Jauh
Slow the lowering phase to a deliberate two- or three-second count, letting the kettlebell pull you into the hinge rather than dropping passively. The upward drive stays fast and violent; that contrast builds power. A brief pause at the bottom of the hinge removes momentum and forces your glutes and hamstrings to restart the movement from a dead stop. Sets of ten to fifteen suit conditioning and hip endurance, while heavier sets of six to eight bias strength. When fifteen reps feel like a seven out of ten in effort, move up by two to four kilograms. If you only have one kettlebell, making it harder means adding that bottom pause or increasing time under tension through slower eccentrics. Once a heavier bell feels controlled, progress to double cleans or double snatches, which demand the same symmetrical hip drive but add a rack or overhead position. Swapping to two separate kettlebells for a dual swing is another option, challenging your grip width and forcing each arm to manage its own arc independently.
Kesalahan Umum
Pulling with the arms instead of driving with the hips. The arms are ropes, not engines. If your shoulders are burning, you're doing it wrong. The other common fault is leaning back at the top — the lockout is hips and glutes, not lumbar extension.

- Kettlebell
- 1
Place two kettlebells between your feet, handles aligned.
- 2
Hinge at the hips, grip both kettlebells with a neutral grip, and hike them back between your legs.
- 3
Drive your hips forward explosively, extending fully at the top.
- 4
Let the kettlebells float to chest height, then guide them back between your legs by hinging at the hips.
- 5
Repeat for the prescribed reps, maintaining a rhythmic hip drive.
